George Mason at Gunston Hall

Saw this post on the DC Traveler and so went there today (Sunday 10/14/07)  and walked in to the museum and said to the lady at reception, “this place reeks of slavery”  she didn’t get it, so I explained that it was only an impression.  Really!  How can it be all about the life of Mason and so little about the lives of the slaves?!   George Mason had the big ideas, but the slaves made his eminent life a possibility.  Stella probably wouldn’t get it.

Nice old boxwood:

So I walked into the house (Gunston Hall) for the tour, which was in progress, and there was Mom’s best travel buddy, Stella.

I started taking pictures, and Stella said to me, YOUR NOT ALLOWED TO TAKE PICTURES, oops!

Stella was with three other travel buddies, all who knew Ma~!   So how about that!  :What a nice surprise:  : )))
